Celtic completed a league and cup double on Saturday, May 24, 2024, with a dramatic 90th-minute goal from Adam Idah securing a 2-1 victory over Rangers in the Scottish Cup final at Celtic Park.

The match was a tense and closely fought affair, with both teams having chances to win it. Rangers took the lead in the first half through a goal from Alfredo Morelos, but Celtic equalized in the second half through a header from Christopher Jullien.

With the match seemingly heading for a draw, Idah popped up in the 90th minute to head home a cross from Ryan Christie and seal the victory for Celtic.

The win was Celtic's first Scottish Cup triumph since 2019 and their 40th overall. It also secured a domestic double for the club, who had already won the Scottish Premiership title this season.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers was delighted with his team's performance and praised Idah for his match-winning goal.

"It was a great performance from the players," Rodgers said. "We showed great character and determination to come back from a goal down and win the game.

"Adam's goal was a moment of magic. He's a young player with a lot of potential, and I'm delighted for him that he scored the winning goal in such an important match."

Celtic's victory was a major disappointment for Rangers, who were hoping to win their first Scottish Cup since 2009.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard was disappointed with his team's performance, but he praised Celtic for their victory.

"We're disappointed to lose the game, but we have to give credit to Celtic," Gerrard said. "They were the better team on the day and they deserved to win.

"We'll learn from this experience and come back stronger next season."
