Colombia and Uruguay Draw in World Cup Qualifier
James Rodriguez's Goal Canceled Out in Final Minute
Colombia and Uruguay played to a 2-2 draw in a FIFA World Cup qualifier on Thursday, with James Rodriguez's stunning goal being canceled out in the final minute.
Rodriguez put the hosts ahead with a brilliant solo effort in the 35th minute, but MathÃas Olivera equalized for Uruguay just before half-time.
The game looked to be heading for a draw until Rodriguez scored his second of the night in the 90th minute. However, Uruguay substitute Maximiliano Gomez scored a dramatic equalizer in the final seconds to earn his team a point.
The result leaves Colombia in fourth place in the CONMEBOL standings, while Uruguay is in fifth. Both teams are still in contention for a place at the World Cup in Qatar next year.
